SCA Metal, which manufactures insulated cold storage units that reduce heat transfer, thereby preserving products in their most natural state and achieving 20% energy savings, continues its efforts to ensure food safety with energy-efficient, environmentally friendly cold storage solutions.
SCA Metal General Manager Meltem Aydın explained that, after more than 25 years of industrial experience, they saw the production of cold storage panels and doors as a new venture and decided to focus on this area at their factory in Adana Hacı Sabancı OSB. Aydın noted that they manufacture cold storage panels as a locked system and can produce custom orders up to 12 meters in length. The production of cold room doors, on the other hand, is carried out as either swing or sliding doors, depending on customer requests.
Meltem Aydın stated that they have achieved a monthly production target of 15,000 square meters of cold storage panels and 100 cold storage doors in Dubai and Germany for brand promotion, and recalled that they have exported to countries such as Croatia, Somalia, Algeria, Cyprus, Germany, and Georgia to date. Aydın said, “This year, we hosted many local and foreign participants at our stand at ISIB 2023 Istanbul and held B2B meetings. We expect to see the effects of this in 2024. We also aim to increase our brand awareness and market share in the sector by participating in trade fairs in Dubai and Germany again in 2024.”.
“The term ‘locked’ should be included in tenders and specifications.” SCA Metal General Manager Meltem Aydın noted that the boundaries of cold room standardization in Turkey are not yet clearly defined, and for this reason, locked cold room panels with low heat transfer, energy savings, and environmental sensitivity are not preferred in terms of investment costs in specifications and procurement tenders. Aydın said: “Since there is no clause stating that cold room panels must be locked, any type of facade panel can be used. These panels are preferred initially because they have lower investment costs, creating unfair competition. Therefore, new standards must be added since the current standard definitions do not meet this requirement.”
“We plan to reduce our carbon footprint.” Meltem Aydın announced that they had submitted project applications to KOSGEB for R&D this year and that these applications had been accepted. She revealed that this project would complete the digitalization of the cooling sector and bring serious and scientific awareness to the sector. Aydın stated that in recent years, with environmentally friendly production models coming to the fore, the company aims to raise awareness among investors in the sector and emphasized the importance of green roofs. She also explained that they intend to continue their work on ensuring the desired food safety through environmentally friendly cold storage facilities using energy-efficient and fireproof locked cold room panels. Finally, Aydın stated that SCA Metal, the sole manufacturer of lockable cold room panels in Adana, is aware of how important its work is for Turkey as a women-owned company. “The cold rooms we produce are also of great importance in terms of public health. As cold storage increases in our country, there will be a significant increase in production and related exports,” she said.

“We have some good news for Adana.“
SCA Metal General Manager Meltem Aydın noted that in 2024, under the IPARD III Program, cold storage facilities in all provinces, including Adana, will be supported with approximately 200 million euros in funding. “This was a very important support for us. This support will greatly benefit not only citrus producers in Adana but also the growing banana greenhouse industry, as well as avocado and blackberry producers.”
